Two Hour Family Scenic Prospector Tour

Operated By: White Mountain Snowmobile Tours

Activity Description

The Prospector Tour is for beginners, families with children and adults who want to ride together on the same snowmobile.  The riding area is around Turquoise Lake with 14,000' mountains being the beautiful scenic backdrop.    County roads in the vicinity are closed to vehicles in the winter so this tour provides miles of smooth riding on groomed trails as well as playing in endless snowy meadows.  Parents will appreciate a brief stop so children up to 70 pounds can take a turn driving a kiddie snowmobile while other guests enjoy free-time riding.

Single Riders are $125, Passengers 7 and up are $65.00, Children 4, 5, and 6 are $30.00 with an adult driver.

All riders must sign a standard liability waiver before touring.

Driving Directions:

From Copper Mountain Exit 195, go south on Highway 91 for 14 miles.  Look for mile marker 7 on the left, slow down, see our blue signs on the right side of 91, turn left into our driveway well marked with colorful flags.  Notice  the 100' tower in the parking lot, it is very visible when proceeding south.  Meet your guides and check in at the red two-story building.

Wear warm winter clothing.  complimentary coveralls and boots are available if needed.  Be sure to bring gloves and goggles.  Helmets are provided.  Ski Helmets are not appropriate for snowmobiling.

We did the Prospector ride as a result of our lack of involvement with snowmobiles. Our guide, Wyman was fabulous. He enabled us to feel comfortable with ourselves on the snowmobiles while still keeping everybody plenty safe. The scenery of the lake was extraordinary, and the trek around the lake was loaded up with incredible turns and outings through the trees. I would return and anticipate making this piece of our yearly excursion to Colorado

This was once our first time snowmobiling. We booked the Prospector Tour and my wife and I shared 1 snowmobile. They have coveralls, boots, helmets, for use gratis. We didn't see any gloves although and you need to bring your own goggles. The snowmobiles are not clearly at the "base camp" the base camp is where you get changed. They drive you ~10 minutes away in a couple of vehicles and that's where the snowmachines are. We had thought we'd leave at noon, but we didn't go till probably 12:15-12:20 due to the fact there have been supposedly some last minute alterations to the guest record. No longer a colossal deal, but the standing around in cold was a bit of a bummer. When we eventually got to the snowmobiles there was an educational session about how one can operate the snowmobile. They're pretty straightforward to function. We then went to a gigantic open field to apply using them around in a large circle. It let people go rapid or slower founded on their preference. We then split into smaller groups. The advisor did a excellent job of making sure nobody got left in the back of. We stopped to take pix overlooking the mountains. Total; this was a really enjoyable time and I am beyond happy we did it. The staff was very pleasant. Be aware that the "base camp" the place you drive to definitely feels like it is in the middle of nowhere. We got here from Breckenridge. My spouse really was fearful about us being unavailable in the and with out cell cellphone reception in some materials on an icy 2 lane rd out to basecamp. Overall, I would suggest this tour company to others.

Recently went on the Prospector tour with White Mountain Tours. The process of booking, checking in and safety talk before tour were all very easy and professional. Our guide, Catfish was great and also told us a great deal about the area that was very interesting to learn about. I would definitely recommend White Mountain Tours.
