Hold your horses though buckaroo, though the mountains are snow covered we’re still experiencing early season conditions for skiing and snowboarding. Beware of fallen trees and exposed rocks in the trees and thinner coverage below 10,000 feet.

These early conditions are great for snow shoeing, fat biking and Nordic skiing and we have done the research.

Top 3 Activities in Breckenridge Besides Skiing

1. Fat Bike Beer & Distillery Tour

If you've never ridden a fat bike before, you're in a treat! These bikes love early season conditions and have 4.5 inch wide tires to grip the snow, ice and whatever the bike trails in Breckenridge can throw at them! Then get you're appre's on early with stops at the Broken Compass Craft Brewery and the Breckenridge Distillery. Return transportation is arranged.

 

2. Winter Horseback Riding

Channel your inner cowgirl and cowboy (... cowperson?) and explore a 3000k acre ranch by horseback. Find a sitter if you have small children. Kids must be over 8 to participate on this one.

 

3. Snowshoe to Isak (the troll)

This is the easiest of all options. Rent snowshoes at a local shop (Ridden has them for $20 with poles) and head out past the Lewis C. Stephen ice rink. Isak is a 15 minute snowshoe from the parking lot. After mastering your snowshoes take your experience to the next level by completing the 30 minute Illinois Gulch Upper and Lower loops.

Okay. So you hit hit the troll already... been there done that. Here are the next 3 trails you should take a look at in order of difficulty.

  3. B&B Trail

 

Snow Cat Tours near Breckenridge

When you want to do something outside and not be cold do this. You'll have the adventure experience of riding in a huge snow machine with the comfort of a heater. Go early if you want to be able to see the forest as it get's dark around 4.

 

 

Snowmobile Tours near Breckenridge

Snowmobile tours will not be running yet. These are typically really competitive reservations. If you want to go during any holiday week/weekend you need to book asap.
