Rain in Breckenridge? Everyday but Never

How to plan around the rain for your trip to the mountains

Rain in Breckenridge? Here's the breakdown

Colorado has over 300 days of sun but what happens when it rains in the high country?

You've planned a trip to Breckenridge in mid-July and by your first glance at the weather, you've picked the wrong week entirely because the forecast is littered with rainy days. Here's where you're wrong though. Breckenridge is going to display anywhere from a 20-50% chance of rain every day across the board because the weather truly changes so quickly that it can be difficult to gauge when and where it will actually rain. Rest assured though! Your vacation will not be lost to the brief rain of the high country. The deal with rain in Breckenridge is this simple - It might rain. If it rains, it is only going to rain between 1-3:30 PM and it won't even last the entire time. What's even crazier is that the rain will be confined to the high country. Let's say you have a rafting trip planned for your stay in you're going to be traveling to browns canyon; fear not because once you pass Hoosier pass and begin your trip to Buena Vista the sun will be shinning and you'll want to make sure you've brought plenty of sunscreen.

One instance to be a bit aware of is when hiking. Should you be hiking one of the local mountain ranges especially Mt. Quandary you'll want to keep an extra eye on the weather surrounding you because the weather can change rapidly. It's best recommended to get up Quandary as early as you can and descend as quickly & safely as you can. At the end of the day its a win-win because if you descend early that gives you enough time to head back into Breckenridge and head to the Broken Compass Craft brewery to reward yourself for accomplishing the local 14,000 footer.

Most other hikes won't require as much caution but always remember to tell someone where you're going, pack extra food & and water, and be aware of your surroundings.

Fun fact: If it does rain the local movie theater is fantastic or you could try a photography session at Breckenridge Old Time Photography OR go to the Breckenridge Escape Room and try your best to ESCAPE
